Segismundo,

Did you originally try using the Avast Mail Protection Wizard to set up Thunderbird?

And did you read the Avast Help file? Especially the part about Manual setting of mail protection.

Do you have any extra spam checkers like SpamPal, etc. or do you just use Thunderbird’s spam checker?

Let us know and we can go from there. :wink:

Hi,
I tried with the original ‘Mail Protection Wizard’ and I accept the propost (127.0.0.1:1110 and 127.0.0.1:25001), but in my spanish instalation there isn’t any help file. I’m downloading english version to reinstall.
I dont work with any spam checker especially.

Thanks for answeres.

Hi,

New english instalation,ok (including Help file).

Same error 10048 and changing the port 25 > 26. The newer is that there isn’t error 100048.

Open Help file > Manual Setting… I make the all the changes according. Dont let me connect with the server sending and receiving.

In the log file there are this log:

…02/07/04 22:58:22: Cannot connect to SMTP server smtp.eresmas.net:25. connect error 10061
02/07/04 22:58:38: Cannot connect to SMTP server smtp.eresmas.net:26. connect error 10061
02/07/04 22:59:12: Cannot connect to SMTP server smtp.eresmas.net:26. connect error 10061
02/07/04 22:59:15: Cannot connect to SMTP server smtp.eresmas.net:26. connect error 10061

and

02/07/04 23:00:11: Cannot connect to SMTP server smtp.eresmas.net:26. connect error 10061
02/07/04 23:00:11: <-SMTP 554 Server ‘smtp.eresmas.net’ unavailable
02/07/04 23:00:39: Cannot connect to SMTP server smtp.eresmas.net:26. connect error 10061
02/07/04 23:00:39: <-SMTP 554 Server ‘smtp.eresmas.net’ unavailable

Regards.

Segismundo,

In my examples, your_isp.com will be your own isp and login will be your login name.

In the avast4.ini file, find the [MailScanner] section and set it as the following -

[MailScanner]
DefaultPopServer=127.0.0.1
DefaultSmtpServer=your_isp.com
ShowTrayIcon=1
UseDefaultSmtp=0
AutoSetProtection=1

In the Thunderbird Account Settings -

You will use the Server Settings for each account to receive mail you have and the Outgoing Server (SMTP) for sending mail.

Just follow the pictures I have attached and see if this will get you up and running. :wink:

Sorry about the picture, here it is

Hi, bbfi, and thanks.

I’ve all setting as you recommended. Exactly. When I finish edit avast4.ini, display a message of Error 10048.
I’,m trying to receive of my account and a new (the same) message "Sending username did not succeed. Mail server: 127.0.0.1 responded: "Server ‘pop.eresmas.net’ (my ISP) unavailable.
I’ve another account with the same server and I receiving them, but not scanned.

Regards

Segismundo,

Error 10048 means Address already in use.

Do these accounts work without Avast checking the email incoming and outgoing? In other words, just setup the accounts regularly without the 127.0.0.1, etc. for Avast. Do you then get these error messages?

Hey guys and gals, anyone else have any ideas for Segismundo? I am kinda of stumped on this one. My setup works fine if I do the same as Segismundo. ???

Hi, bbfi.

My accounts work regoularly without server localhost. I dont know what happen. I’m installed IIS servirces and I think this is no problem, because I send and I receive regoularly without the change.
