in the last couple of days my avast wont update the virus protection. Im wondering is there an issue with this or my pc. i have tried rebooting and using the repair in remove/change program features. it come up with an error of: ERROR PROCESSING PACKAGES. PLEASE USE FULL UPDATE.
Use the - Avast! Manual Virus Definitions Update Download - avast! Virus Definitions Update - Manual Download VPS Update (virus definitions, vpsupd.exe, approx 31MB). - Save the file to your hard disk, locate where you saved it and double click it and that should carry out the virus definitions update.
Note: Ignore the file name in the images of the page that is displayed after clicking the download link, they are for the main program, not for vpsupd.exe which will be downloaded.
thanks, after doing this process i get a message that say vps database is already up to date. when i open avast i still have the old update showing that Virus Definitions version: !110824-1 and still says update to the right of it
i’ve tried the reboot and the repair again. i still get the same message as before when i repair and im stuck on avast in the initialising when update begins
Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.
Register your free copy or add the license key for Pro. Or even upgrade your key from old versions.
Check and post the results. If, for any reason, you did not solve, try doing the step 3 in Safe Mode anyway.
I’ve got absolutely the same problem. My Avast hasn’t been downloading the antivirus updates within two or three days. The problem is beyond our computers or programs as it seems to me.
I haven’t decided what to do yet.
hey i suggest you check the post Tech posted above and try that and see if that could help you. and further notice please do a new threat so we could help you better. is better to start a new threat rather then jumping in on threat that’s already started. (just a side note there)
