i recently purchased they full version of avast [to replace the trial]. Installation was fine, but after my computer reboots, an error message displays where the log on screen should be;
‘interactive logon process initialization has failed. Please consult even log fore more details.’
Hence i cant log on. I can start log into windows in safe mode, and have uninstalled Avast to temporarily over come them problem, and now the log in procedure is ok.
Is there a fix to this problem which allows me to have Avast installed and log into windows, really haven’t got a clue as to what i need to do?
Please, post the last 300-350 lines of avast log: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\Setup\setup.log
(or the shorter C:\Users\All Users\Alwil Software\Avast5\log\Setup.log).
You can enable debug logging in avast Settings\Maintenance and then post the correspondent log file
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Alwil Software\Avast5\Log\Logging.log
or
C:\Users\All Users\Alwil Software\Avast5\log\Logging.log
I mean that file, yes.
But I need the latest lines, not the first ones… I can’t see any error in that part.
Maybe you could upload (attach) the file to your post.
file is attached - i think those were the latest line. I am currently running in safe mode [dont think avast is running], dont know if that makes any difference
I see nothing in the log that could avoid Windows to logon.
Seems that other software is conflicting… firewall? old antivirus before avast? other security program?
Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.

avast so far is extremely disappointing. i loaded and ran avast. i tried to quarantine the bugs. however upon start up i receive the message “interactive logon process initiator has failed”. my machine won’t start up. it was working ok until i ran avast. none of the suggested hints help as i cannot start up at all. can anyone help? if i had not installed avast i think i would be ok. i’m afraid that now my pc is bricked i will have to send it out to be fixed
AyeAvast, do you use any other antivirus in this computer? Used in the past? Which one, how it was uninstalled?
Did you try to uninstall avast at safe mode?
Which files (names and paths) and viruses were found in the computer?
