Help, computer infected

Okay, so warning I know very little about computers, so I’m going to sound like an idiot. Last week I was on youtube using internet explorer and the page started running very slowly and I began getting endless avast and malwarebytes pop-ups saying an infection was blocked and it was coming from several different sites, one of them was something along the lines of fffaa.com. I ran several scans with both and a boot time scan to no avail. To be honest, I’ve avoided windows updates for some time, which I realize now is a terrible idea, so I ran all of the windows updates, which took almost 5 hours because the computer was being severely bogged down by this infection and it gave me ie11. When I restarted everything seemed fine…for a day. The problem returned. It was then I noticed that the guest account was not having this problem, so I created a new profile, transferred anything I wanted from the old, and deleted the old profile. Everything appeared fine except for my computer getting pretty hot and running a bit slower than usual since the incident… until now, when I was again on youtube and I began experienced something similar, though not as many warning messages as the first one and listing a different site. I know I sound very ignorant about this, but I know my computer is infected with something and I desperately need help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just received another warning popup, it says the source is C:\Windows\explorer.exe. I clicked on the “learn more” button and it says:

Infection blocked

Attach your basic logs. (MBAM, FRST and aswMBR…!!)
Instructions: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

Okay, so following the directions on that link, here are the symptoms(whether all of them are related I do not know):

Speakers work, but do not show any sound system installed and cannot adjust the volume. Work normally 1/2 the time.
Computer slower than normal and running hot.
Continuous warning messages from both Avast and MBAM
(example of last popup:
Malicious Website Blocked:
IP: 88.214.193.212
Port: 57647
Type: Outbound
Process: C:\Windows\explorer.exe)

And here are the logs as instructed:

And here is “aswMBR”

Can anyone help?

Hold on… I would’ve assumed Asyn would’ve contacted somebody.

He has but there are some qualified folk on vacation. Patience please.

Hello,

As initial quick adware scanner and remover, AdwCleaner shall do nice job here.
As for malware checking, I would like to deploy another ARK tool. Then, we will start with ComboFix.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.

Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.

[*]Click on the Scan button.
[*]After the scan has finished click on the Clean button.

Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.
Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process.

[*]After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S0].txt) will open automatically.
[*]Post logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.

.

Please download TDSSKiller and save it to your desktop

Execute TDSSKiller.exe by doubleclicking on it.
Confirm “End user Licence Agreement” and “KSN Statement” dialog box by clicking on Accept button.

[*]Under Additional options check the boxes next to:
- Verify Driver Digital Signature;
- Detect TDLFS file system
- Use KSN to scan objects
[*] Press Start Scan
[*] If Suspicious object is detected, the default action will be Skip, click on Continue.
[*] If Malicious objects are found, select Cure.

Once complete, a log will be produced at the root drive which is typically C:\ ,for example, C:\TDSSKiller.<version_date_time>log.txt

Please post the contents of that log in your next reply.

.

  1. Please download ComboFix by sUBs (
    http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/IconComboFix.png
) from here and save it to your Desktop.
If you are unsure how ComboFix works, read this guide.

  1. Temporarily disable your AntiVirus program, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may interfere with Combofix.
If you are unsure how to do this please read this or this Instruction.

Instructions how to disable avast:
• Right click on the avast! system tray icon (
http://www.mcshield.net/pg/images/avast5.png
) in the lower right corner of the screen and scroll up to avast! shield controls;
• In the menu that appears, choose Disable Permanently. When you are prompted to turn off security, click Yes.

Note: Do not forget to turn back on this option after the cleaning by choosing avast! shield controls > Enable all shield options.

  1. Run ComboFix. Then, on disclaimer window, click I Agree! button.

- ComboFix will check if there is a newer version of ComboFix available.
Click Yes if prompted to download.
-If Recovery Console is not installed, ComboFix will offer download & installation.
Click Yes to allow ComboFix to install Recovery Console.

  • ComboFix will scan your computer in stages, total of 50 stages.
Do not mouse-click around while ComboFix is running.
  • If malware is detected, ComboFix will begin with its removal, and may need to restart Windows.
Note:If you see a message like “Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion” just restart your computer.

  1. When the tool is finished, it will produce a log report for you. (typical location: C:\ComboFix.txt)
=> Attach log report (ComboFix.txt) back to topic.

ComboFix shall also create addition log (typical location: C:\Qoobox\ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt)
=> Please attach that report (ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt) as well.

Sorry it’s been some time, but here are the logs as requested. Thank you so much for your help!

And the others

Can anyone help? It’s been really bogging down my computer on and off.

Umm, I’m surprised Magna did not post back!

Hold on, I will PM Magna right now with your case!

Sorry about that.

Edit: I see the date difference is like 20 days, did not see that before. Regardless, he’s been PM’d about your case again. (Sit tight, it may be until tomorrow he answers back, it is very late for him)

Hello,

I probably somehow simply bypass your post …

I shall need a fresh FRST.txt and Addition.txt logfiles. Run FRST tool again, wait for update, press Scan button and post me the fresh logs.

It's been really bogging down my computer on and off.
Is your computer gets the random reboots?

Here are the logs. It’s not getting random reboots. The problem only seems to be occurring in 2 of 3 user profiles, “Elan” and “guest”. It appears to be trying to pull up ad sites, mbam blocks that from happening, but it still tries to so many times that it is making the computer heat up and slow down. Thanks for your help

The problem began occurring in my profile “Brian”, so I deleted it and created a new brian profile which stopped the problem for a short time. I started using the guest profile which wasn’t having the problem for several weeks, but then started having the issue as well as in the elan profile. I then tried Brian again and now that one isn’t having the problem currently.
