Help!! Could this be a virus?

My computer had been working great on the internet. I used a NIC and I have a DSL connection I use DHCP. I can’t get on the internet now. I can’t get an IP from the DHCP, I get an error that can’t find the DHCP. If I use the usb connection available on my modem, then I get an IP and the internet works great. Also, if I format the hard drive the original NIC works. Could this be a virus?? I have scanned with more than 1 virus program. If anyone knows anything about this please help!!

most likely a driver issue and not a virus. Do you download drivers from windows update? that could be a problem

When my internet connection works I do all critical windows updates. If it includes drivers, then I guess yes, I do download drivers from windows. The network card says it is working properly, maybe that doesn’t mean anything, I don’t know.
