Gday my computer has vista running on it and it used to have norton av i uninsalled most of the program norton but because it come preloaded on my pc i cant fully uninstall it with out the disk. I have installed avast version 4.7 1098 but canot conect to the net if the resident scanner is running if i turn it off it is fine i can not receive any updates either. My fire wall is the standard vista firewall but it makes no difference if it is off or on. My email is allso telling me that the security ticket can not be verified and if i want to run this server it did not ask this before but i dont know if it is related to my problem any advise would be great thanks
First, uninstall avast:
- Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
- Boot.
- Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
- Boot.
Then, remove NAV.
- Remove NAV through Add/Remove programs from Control Panel. Boot. Or skip this step if you haven’t any Symantec Product (even LiveUpdate).
- Use Norton Removal Tool for Windows 2000/XP/Vista.
- Boot.
Install avast again:
- Install again the last version.
- Boot.
- Check and post the results.
Thankyou very much for your help it is very much appreciated, everything seems to work OK but my email is still telling me the server you are connected to is using a security certificate that could not be verified.
The certificate cn name does not match the past value. do you want to continue using this server.
Windows security centre is telling me to check malware protection settings. It also told me that avast may need updating when i tried to update nothing seemed to happen but as i am writing a notification just popped up telling me there is an update available on the net so i guess it is working, once again thankyou for your time and help…cheers…
Site certification has nothing to do with avast.
Which site are you referring to?
