Avast keeps the siren going and its annoying the piss out of her cause it wont do anything… Thanks ALOT!!!

VPS version: 0539-1, 09/27/2005
malware name : Win32:Spybot-GEN [wrm]
C:\DOCUME~1\CHRIST~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\ffwjt.exe[MEW]

C:\Documents and Settings\Christina Glass\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\3ICN75C1\spybot[1].exe[MEW]

Well firstly this appears to be two different files that are infected with the same virus In temporary locations have her clear her temp files and temporary internet files.

With it in the Temporary Internet Files location, which is a surprise as it should have been detected by the Web Shield and stopped it getting on to her HDD. So the reinfection may be because her browsing habits are the same.

Does she have Web Shield enabled?
What OS is she using and is it up to date?
What does she do when the alarm goes off, move to chest, etc? e.g. what does she mean by " Avast finds it within the system scan but she said it wont do anything to it"

This is going to be a bit of a long and drawn out process if you are acting as a go between, it would be better if she took an active part in the thread.

Hey guys… somebody pmed me and told me about some cleaner programs for the temp files and such and i think that took care of it… anyways… what I meant was… she said that there were no options for her to do anything with the file… it just kept telling her there was virus and it wouldnt get rid of it and she couldnt fix it… I will come back if its not fixed and get her on my screen name… Thanks alot!!!

There are always options, if having selected and option you receive warnings that the action can’t be carried for some reason, that is what we need to know and why the third party assistance isn’t working.

None of the questions I asked have an answer which makes it more difficult that it needs to be for those trying to help. It doesn’t take much for someone to sign-up for the forums and that should be the way otherwise how are we to know who we are talking to?

The cleaner program just cleans temp files it won’t deal with the recurring virus issue.
