hi, erm i dont wanna sound thick, but im having a bit of trouble getting to grips wid avast. i dont like the skins, can i go to a simple one? im currently using the blue one.
how do i do a thorough boot scan. (ive found the bit where u determine if u want a standard or thourough scan) and how often shud i do certain things? do i ever need to update it myself or can i just let it do it itself (i like the way it tells u by voice when its updated!)

Hi, I use Avast since 4-5 years but I don’t have it in front of me. You have an icon in the system tray. Right-click it and press the On acces protection (the first one up). Go to Standard protection or Shield you’ll find a place where it says “all files” to scan. Check it. The update can be done manually but if you have an active internet connection on for ever it updates itself every 4 hours. ;D
right click the avast icon, select Program Settings, Common, uncheck Enable skins for Simple User Interface and any other option relating to Skins if they are checked, uncheck. Personally I would say you should select another skin, right click the avast icon, select Start avast! Antivirus, Menu, Select Skin. There is a link to get more skins, I would suggest you get the avist skin by SCZ, this is a nice skin which is relatively user friendly.
If you are asking about a boot-time scan and not an on-demand scan:
You can right click the avast icon, select Start avast! Antivirus, Menu, Schedule Boot-time scan. From the pop-up dialogue you can change its default settings.
