Help! LAN Cable not recognised!

Dear Forum,

A friend’s laptop is not recognising the LAN cable when it is plugged in, and there is no internet connection. Could somebody please advise how to fix this?

  • The cable itself works in three other computers (so the cable is not the culprit)

  • After the cable has been plugged in, Windows does not react at all

  • Device Manager shows this under network adaptors

    1. 1394 - Networkadaptor
    2. Intel (R) PRO/Wireless 2200 BG Network Connection
    3. Intel (R) PRO/Wireless 2200 BG Network Connection - PANDA NDIS IM Filter Miniport
    4. Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Adaptor, Copper RJ-45
    5. Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Adaptor, Copper RJ-45 - PANDA NDIS IM FIlter Miniport
    6. WAN-Miniport (IP) - PANDA NDIS IM Filter Miniport
  • Numbers 3, 5, and 6 show a yellow circle with an exclamation mark on them

  • It says 'The device driver for this hardware cannot be loaded. The driver is possibly damaged or not available (Code 39)

  • The computer is an ASUS Laptop with INtel Pentium Processor 1.60GHz - 1.0 GB Ram, ATI Mobility Radeon X700.

  • The computer has Kaspersky Internet Security 9.0.0.459 installed (And had PANDA installed)

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!!

Did you have Panda AV on your system ???

Not on my system. However, my friend did on his. This has been uninstalled.

Update:

The computer now recognises the LAN cable!

But it didn’t before!

What do you think is the problem?

I don’t know but found it strange that the same problem turned up as a related item to
Panda AV. I simply used a Google search and investigated the results.
Since it’s now working, I guess you can mark this topic as “solved”.

I wish I could! However, it is only working intermittently. :frowning:
