Help me please !

Whenever I turn on my computer, after the windows log in it loads my taskbar but not my desktop and freezes. I can still move my mouse though. i’ve waited for half an hour but it doesnt load. In safe mode I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (full scan), avast free ativirus (full scan) , Microsoft online scanner and emisoft emergency kit. nothing was found. I tried to run a boot time scan but it seems you cannot in safe mode. (all definitions are up to date but Avasts as it wont let me update them in safe mode)

Can anyone help me?
Thanks

as i said above....the OTL log

It’s in his first post.

okay…just to make it complicated i guess. ::slight_smile:

I already attached the OTL log

yes we see that now…
usually we look for a new post where the log is attached…not a EDIT of first post

anyway malware remover is notified and will check the log when he arrive here later today

Hi from safe mode, run MSConfig and disable the following items :

Facebook Update
Steam

Are you now able to boot normally ?

No It does the same thing but this time it loads the desktop items but then freezes again

I can see no apparent malware here, so disabling those two items allowed you to progress further this time

Next we will check for driver conflicts

Step 1: Start MSConfig

Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

Step 2: Configure Selective Startup options

1.In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab.

2.Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
Note The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.

3.Click the Services tab.

4.Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
5.Click Disable All, and then click OK.
6. When you are prompted, click Restart.

Once back in windows does the problem still occur ?

Thank you
it is solved but umm which ones can I turn back on?

Also I just noticed my Avast is off and it wont turn back on

Nvm thank you my problem has been solved

Turn them back on in the following manner

From MSConfig services
Turn on half of the services that are turned off
Reboot
If it works OK then turn on half of the remaining services
And continue in this vein

The intention here is to pinpoint the service that is causing the problem

I did all that to turn on the services but is it normal that now I have all of them on and the problem is not happening anymore? All my services are on but my computer turns on fine

Ah the gremlin has gone back into hiding it seems … Weird.

Let it run for a day or so, then if no further problems I will remove the tools

Which tools?
