Help me pleeze!

Can any one help? When I run a scan, it runs fine. BUT this message appears when I press the Chest icon…
Initialization of Chest files

Action was completed with errors!

Program cannot use Chest client: (null)
—>Description: The RPC server is unavailable
And this:

Initialization of Chest files

Program will try to load all Chest files from the following server: (null)

Action was completed with errors!

Also the Resident Protection is always “Disabled” even when I turn it on, it turns it’s self off again.
Any clues?
Many thanx for any help

Hi Pejonel…

I would need a little more information to be of assistance. Is this Windows XP you’re running and has this problem developed very recently or has this been the case for some time?

Are you using a second scanner or recently uninstalled one?

You could try using Avast’s repair feature first but if certain conditions still exist, it won’t make any difference.

Best regards…

Many thx for answering.
I am using 4.7 version, and Windows Me.
The problem started when I Bought a DVD rewriter and Nero and installed that. System locked ARGHHH!
It was then I noticed it, when I got up and running again. Maybe I should have turned Avast OFF eh?
Never really had any problems with any virus, Cos I also use my firewall, a web based mail server, from which I never download any mail from people I don’t know. I also have spywareguard, spybot SD, A2 scanner, plus CCleaner. (these were all installed before the crash).
Can I just do a repair on Avast! If so how?
Many thanx for your time.

How to run a Repair of Avast AV Start/Control Panel/Add Remove programs, Avast! Anti-Virus, Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow instructions You need to be on-line to do this.
If unsucessful try, uninstall Avast Via control Panel , then use Avast total removal program available from Avast home site run program/ reboot, re-install Avast and reboot.
Hope this helps Fingers crossed the repair may solve your problem
