thank you … candy

Hi candiekisses5,

Could you provide us with some more information about what it is that you want to remove?
What does the message look like? (screenshot maybe)
What does it say?

The on-access scanner (standard shield section) will scan everything that on open as that is what it’s job is to do.

i realize that it is suppose to scan but it is coming up in thr right hand corner of my screen. the top of it is in blue. thats where it says avast on acsess scanner message. then under that it is telling me about everything i am looking at. it didnt use to do this. so im guessing i changed something the last time i did a scan. now this wont stop.

Hello candiekisses5

nothing to worry…

its rather simple.

left click on avast tray icon, click the details button in the bottom right corner. in the left hand side, scroll to standard shield and click customize on the right hand side. then go to advanced tab and uncheck show detailed info on performed action and click ok. see picture.

that should do.

i know this sounds dumb but i dont have a trat icon antmore, i must have removed it. i have a desk top icon, but that doesnt do it

oki.

first of all let us all know which other security products do you use.

from when is the tray icon missing?..

when did you install avast…

before that which antivirus were you using.

this might help us know why you don’t have a tray icon.

i only use … avast, spybot search and destroy and adware

i installed avast in june maybe 2 weeks ago…?

i did a scan 3 or 4 days ago and i think i may have hit the icon try and removed the icon then

well you cant actually remove the tray icon since it’ll normally come back after restart.

i think spybot may have blocked the startup entry of ashdisp.exe (avast)

repair avast installation and reboot or reinstall if that does not give you avast tray icon.

if it fails again then,

you can do one thing. what i would if i were to be in your place is, remove spybot (since it has not kept up to date with the current threats).

also remove adaware(same reason as with spybot).

for more protection i would use malwarebytes antimalware(mbam) : malwarebytes.org(free version-on demand scan only) to scan whenever i update mbam.

i suggest you to do this.

ok, thank you, can you tell me how to do that? the repair thing i mean?

i am terrible at this stuff…lol

dont worry

everyone here is ready to help

control panel > add remove programs> select avast > uninstall or change > avast asks for confirmation > click yes> select repair and continue…

Or u can uninstall ur current avast and install a new one^^
(do this is the repair is unsuccessful^^)

ok, im gonna give it a try… im sure i will be back shortly…ugh!

i tried what you said. to go into control pannel and repair… it restarted the computer. still no avast icon in tray. and the scanner message is still on my screen, im sooooo lost ! HELP !

as addict said,

get the new installer from : http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

scroll down and select the required language. i would suggest not to download from download.com.

get the avast uninstaller from here : http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe

uninstall avast and reboot.

do a fresh install of avast.

that should.

i would say remove spybot before everything

None of wat I quoted is important… for the question is : how did u put that pic there?

just trying…

i did it… it was sucessful ! whew ! i was nervous ! i uninstalled and then reinstalled. thank you to all for your help !!! now, someone sugested that i remove spybot search and destroy, may i ask why?
