help me with outlook

hi to everyone…i can’t sign in my hotmail account by using MS oulook…can u help me make the right settings to fix this?

You have to provide a lot more information. We are not mindreaders.

Outlook or Outlook Express?
What Windows version?
What happens if you try to loging?
What other security (related) software do you have installed?
What have you already tried to solve it?
etc etc etc

MS Office oulook 2007(beta 2)
Windows xp pro SP2
Avast home
when outlook tries to login,a message appears saying that the username or the password is invalid…i’ve retyped and retyped again the username and the password and i’m sure i type them right but…nothing works…i always get the same message…i’ve heard that MS outlook has a problem(bug) on loging in hotmail accounts…

This used to be a common problem with web shield and ZA Pro with privacy settings set to high, before the compatibility check ans disabling the transparent proxy.

You haven’t got ZA Pro, perhaps there is a similar issue here, what is your firewall and do you allow cookies ?
Is there any sort privacy function in your firewall ?

If you log in on an http page, then it is validated on an https page and if valid redirects you to an http page, during this flip flop the parameters (user name and password) need to be carried forward, usually using cookies.

If you pause/disable web shield before logging on can you get in ?
If so that would possibly indicate some sort of firewall, web shield issue.

Note
If you are using a free e-mail account from MSN Hotmail, Windows Live Mail, or Windows Live Custom Domains,
you cannot use Outlook to access your account.

See the following for more information:

If it’s not a free account, then follow the instructions on that same website.

If it is a free account, you can use Windows Live Mail Desktop to receive it and all your other mail.

Hope that helps.

i don’t use ZA Pro…i use Comodo firewall and even if i disable it and stop all avast providers the problem isn’t solved…

As I said I know you didn’t use ZA Pro merely checking that you current firewall didn’t have a similar function.

However, since I don’t use Outpost but OE6, so I can’t check Bob’s assertion. I thought both OE and Outpost could download Hotmail, whilst it isn’t possible with new Hotmail/MSN accounts if you had an old account it was still possible to access it to download email.

Since you have stopped all providers and the problem exists then that would tend to confirm Bob’s post or there is a problem with the beta 2 version of Outlook.

Sometimes it pays to read all replies made to your problem. It has nothing to do with ZA It is a restriction from hotmail. It will not work. Find another way to get your hotmail.

the URL doens’t work…do u know a gd software like MS outlook so i login to my free hotmail account and be protected with AVAST’s web mail provider?

To get your Hotmail messages (brought into Thunderbird via the Webmail extensions) scanned by avast:

In the avast Internet Mail provider:

Click Customize > Redirect tab > Uncheck the “Ignore local communication” box > OK > OK

thnx a lot for ur time and assistance…now the avast web mail provider scans my emails from thunderbird…
