Help needed - can't open folders

What I did was…

  1. Go to Folder Properties
  2. Find “Folder with Files” or whaddayacallit (“Папка с файлами” in Russian)
  3. Added a custom action (Open in Terminal)
Now whenever I try to open a folder, it doesn’t open it, but instead launches the “Find” thingy which searches for files, for the selected folder. I need to recover it to normal. Please, help!

You don’t say what your OS is and that may make a difference.

Try this site, http://www.dougknox.com/ XP Fixes have a number of little VB tools to repair things like this. Obviously if you don’t have XP It may not be of any use or work.

There are other such sites though I can’t remember it.

Sorry, forgot. The OS this happened on is Windows XP SP2. But I figured it anyway. Solution:

  1. Hit Winkey+R and type “Regedit”
  2. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Shell
  3. Modify the default value to “open”

No problem, worth bookmarking that site it has come in handy over the years.
