My workstation is being affected by virus and there was a .exe folder of my application program being created in the D Drive. Upon scanning by avast i fount out that it has been infected by
Malware Name: Win32:Brontok-CE[Wrm]
Malware type: Virus/Worm
VPS Version: 080611-1, 06/11/2008
I am not able to move it to the chest or delete it. How do i go about removing it?
Is there any way out?

What location on your workstation was this exe found?
it was found in the d drive where i have my project application folders…

Brontok virus is from indonesia country and i dont know avast can handle that or no.
You didn’t say why avast move it to the chest or delete it (not a good first option), file in use by another program, etc. ?
If you have XP, vista32bit or Win2k, you could enable a boot time scan. Right click the avast icon, select Start avast! Antivirus, Menu, ‘Schedule boot-time scan…’ Or see http://www.digitalred.com/avast-boot-time.php.
