IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Anyone helping me should know that I am NOT computer savvy, so you will need to walk me through this like I am a three-year-old. I am not exactly sure how to “run a log” or do much with a computer.
I ran a Malware Bytes scan, and nothing was found. I did an full-system Avast scan next. Here’s what happened:
-On 1/4/14, TWO viruses titled Win32:VBCrypt-CSL[Trj] were found.
I picked “move to chest” for the first one.
-When I tried to move the second one to the chest, it said something like “The process cannot access the file because it’s being used by another process”.
-When I tried to “Fix Automatically”, it said “Access Denied”.
-I finally chose “Do Nothing”.
I did a boot-scan and another full-system scan after the first one; the result was “No Virus Found”. However, if I go to scan history, it appears as if the virus is still there. I can still attempt to move to chest, fix, etc. - and I get the same results.
Best to do as Steven Winderlich suggests in any case.
I’m no expert either but, I would like to add that Win32:VBCrypt-CSL[Trj] (in NTUSER.DAT) has been identified as a false positive - in some cases.
Make sure your avast! virus definitions are up to date*, and scan again. This looks very much like what I had, but with latest updates avast! scans clean. Hope that is some comfort.
*Hint: Right-click on avast! icon on task bar and choose Update > Engine and virus definitions.
[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done
[*]Open OTL again and click the Quick Scan button. Post the log it produces in your next reply.

No, no problems. The last time I had a virus, I had a TON of problems - files freezing up all the time, internet constantly crashing. None of that going on now.
In that case methinks I will send you on your merry way
Subject to no further problems
I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems
Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean
A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:
Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.
Clear Restore Points
Go Start > All Programmes > Accessories > System tools
Right click Disc Cleanup and select run as administrator
When it pops up at the first prompt select OK after it has done some calculations the tabs will appear
Select More Options tab
Press Sytem Restore and Shadow Copies Cleanup button
