HELP NEEDED

Hi, i have only been using avast home edition for about 4 weeks and hope that someone can help me. Since upgrading to the new version i am unable to start the virus scan. I get a box popping up saying, avast encounters a problem. Internal error has occured in avast program. It is probably caused by a program bug or invalid entry date. The virus scan has always worked in the past, so i am ar odds on what to do. I have reinstalled avst 3 times, but i still get the same problem.

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, avast! Anti-Virus, Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
If that doesn’t work try, uninstall, reboot, install, reboot.
