Help Needed.

i have been having problems with one particular virus all morning and afternoon. Its the same one everytime (been detected around 9 times now), and credit to Avast which has blocked it everytime, but I’m just worried that this keeps appearing again and again, i haven’t been on websites that I normally don’t go on. Has anybody ever heard or seen this before?

If someone could share some light on this situation it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Try this

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.50.1 http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
always update so you have latest database before you scan
click the remove selected button to quarantine anything found

Please post the scan log here…

As it was web shield - what site were you on to get this warning ?

I have tried malwarebytes with no infection found ( sorry, i probably should have noted that )

Its happened on multiple websites, Free translation, Facebook, I think I was even on the Google Chrome homepage at one point.

Hi in that case lets have a shufty at your system . First though a question do any other computers that use your router get the same problem ?

Download OTL to your Desktop

[*]Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
[*]Select All Users
[*]Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

netsvcs
%SYSTEMDRIVE%*.exe
/md5start
explorer.exe
winlogon.exe
Userinit.exe
svchost.exe
/md5stop
%systemroot%*. /mp /s
CREATERESTOREPOINT

[*]Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.

[*]When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
[*]Post both logs

Its only me on this network. It may be good to mention that this has appeared around the same time ( that is other people having the same thing, not me )

Ill do that now and report back.

that is other people having the same thing, not me
Is that other site users or people that use your router. If it is multiples on the same network then it could be a router infection

No i mean, the other users on the website were having that problem, they are not related to me.
That is not the main problem however, i thought it may have been related.

See attached

OK I think I may see your problem - You have both Avast 5 and AVG on the system. AVG linkscanner may be causing part of the problem. I highly recommend that you uninstall one of the antivirus programmes, as this is a case where two is definitely not better than one. AVG has about 6 services and drivers running

Anti-Virus programs take up an enormous amount of your computer's resources when they are actively scanning your computer. Having two anti-virus programs running at the same time can cause your computer to run very slow, become unstable and even, in rare cases, crash.

If you choose to install more than one Anti-Virus program on your computer, then only one of them should be active in memory at a time.

There are basically two types of these programs:
On-Access and On-Demand

On-Access Scanners
As the name implies, are scanners that run in the background all the time the PC is turned on and running. The main function of an On-Access scanner is to monitor activity on your machine.

On-Demand Scanners
As the name implies, are scanners that only run when you ask them to.
Such as:
Online Scans and scanners that run on your machine but are not actively scanning your machine
