help needed

i just recently updated avast internet security and after then restart my PC like instructed now after load up i get a non stop pop up error that states the following

AvastUi.exe - Application Error

The instuction at 0x778181b8 referenced memory at 0x00000050. The memory could not be read.

Click on OK to terminate the program

Then i click OK and nothing happens it pops right back up in seconds

i need a fix id rather not uninstall cause if i do ill never use avast again

I suggest you remove that version using the avast removal tool and do a real clean install of the latest version.
Choose the edition you want to have HERE

that is real clean update from avast server but why m i having
this problem

I’d urge you to follow the good advise above. In-place upgrades are really not the best way to get latest version when it comes to things like antivirus/firewall apps.

thn why there is option to update antivirus and all that such things

plz do clear my doubts

except uninstalling is there any other solution u guyz can provide plz
i shall be highly obliged to you

Indianboy, please do as I suggested and let us see if that solved the problem.
If not, we will take it from there.

any other way except uninstalling

If you’ve done a repair to no avail, then there’s no other way than a clean install…

I’d recommend you try a clean install of v9.

  1. Download the right aswclear and the appropriate program

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe

v8 and below : http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
v9: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe

  1. Uninstall Avast by control panel [If you don’t have Avast in control Panel go to #4]
  2. Uninstall in safe mode using aswclear (v8 or below) or avastclear (v9) [If you don’t have Avast in control Panel just install it]
  3. Download and install your version
  4. Reboot.

You can insert license file during install or after reboot. (If using paid version)

You’d rather stay with the current version, report bugs and then they’ll be fixed.

That’s “only” been suggested about 7 times by now to no avail. I cannot see the point in posting here if the only outcome is to ignore the advice provided.

@OP: Cannot see whether you realize this, but - the help here is mostly provided by volunteer community. These people have better things to do in their free time than dealing with your stubborn refusal to follow the advise that’s the easiest way to resolve your issue. If you wish to continue this course, I’d suggest you contact Avast commercial support and pay to deal with your issue.
