Help? Not sure if this is real or not.

Avast popped up with a warning, it said that there was a rootkit in my computer! It was in the C:windowssystem32NTDLL.DLL file. But when I try to move it to the chest so I can run a scan it says “Can not process file C:windowssystem32NTDLL.DLL”
I have been running scans all day, only one malware bytes came up with anything. I’ve been running also rootkit tools too, none of them catch anything. Even after I restarted avast popped up again.
Is this just a flash positive? If not, do you know what I should do? Mind you I suck at computers, but I’ve been trying to do the best I can.
Thanks.

Edit:
I also just remembered. That the warnings only started after avast updated it’s self.

first welcome to the forum. if avast is detection an malware and it won’t be able to do anything with it, i suggest you try a boot scan with avast and see if you can move it the chest from there.

another program that is highly recommended here also is superantispyware that you can give a go on. and see if it can dell with the infection if avast wont be able to dell with it throught the boot scan.

http://www.superantispyware.com/ where you can download superantispyware

http://filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/ another place you can download superantispyware if the first link is to slow download on.

good luck and write back on your progress or if you need more help.

Ensure that you have the latest virus signatures, 100720-0 as I believe this resolves this problem detection.

I had these symptoms start up yesterday on a PC that does nothing but run Spotify. What I did was look in System Restore and restore from a point before the problem started. I noticed that this undid “Software Distribution Service 3.0” which I’m assuming is a Windows update. On restart I ran a full Avast scan and the recommended “SuperAntiSpyWare” which detects no error.
