As a limited user, whenever I perform a manual update of Avast! 4.8 (via right click on the taskbar Avast icon), I will have to log in as an Admin. With the installation of SuRun, I would like to perform the manual update with limited Admin account via SuRun without full Admin rights. Can someone help me in identifying which files (exe, dll, etc) should I include in the SuRun program list?
I have already included the following exe files…but have no effect:
ashAvast.exe
ashQuick.exe
ashUpd.exe
asRunDll.exe
VisthUpd.exe
I’ve had avast! 4.8 on Vista 32 as a regular limited user for over a year. This could be a silly question but why do you need a regular procedure for manual updates? Is there a problem with automatic updates?
Thanks for pointing that out…Actually, Avast! 4.8 (Home Edition) is running on my PC “On-Demand” scan only. Since I stopped all “providers”, Avast! does not perform the automatic update, thus requiring the manual intervention.
So, what are you using as a resident scanner?
Avast was designed as a resident, its’ forte is not demand scanning, and it will interfere with another installed AV (and vice-versa.)
