Help Please! - MSVCP71.dll is missing ???

Hello, Bit of a problem today.I have a Windows message when I log on saying that Avast! cannot start because “VisthAux.exe - Unable to locate component” and with an error message, “This application has failed to start because MSVCP71.dll was not found.Re-installing may fix this problem”.

Help please!.. I run Avast! Home(the free version) on a Windows 64bit PC.

ps My annual renewal was up quite recently, could it be that I have not re-registered the new key properly?.. I thought I’d done it correctly though. It won’t let me re-do it know because it won’t let me into Avast! at all. Feel a bit naked with only Windows Defender between me and the baddies… Any help will be gratefully received… Anybody else got same problem??

My annual renewal was up quite recently, could it be that I have not re-registered the new key properly?

I doubt it. Actually, I don’t know how to get avast to open up if the license is not registered properly… I use the ADNM’s AMS Tool to manage keys. Unfortunately, I haven’t used the free version long enough to see what happens when the license expires.

However, if you need the dll file, it is available on the 'net. http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcp71

Read the directions here to install: http://www.dll-files.com/unzip.php

Hope it helps.

Yes thanks very much for your reply… that did it… I wonder how the .dll fault occurred though?.. anyway thanks and gba

I’m glad it worked. Sometimes, the developers of software think that everyone has the required dll’s to run their application, simply because they have it on their own machine. I don’t think Avast is causing this.

Could you have possibly installed another application recently?

Anyway, can you now open up avast? Does everything seem to be working properly with that at least?

yep everything seems ok now… thanks again… the dog
