Sounds like the blaster or sasser worm, for wich Microsoft has released a patch (MS03-026) over 5 years(!) ago.

Go to the [url-http://update.microsoft.com]MS update site[/url] and install ALL available updates.

To stop the counter: start > run > shutdown -s

Hi…

If you are able to keep the system on for any length of time, you can try running an online scan here…

http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/

You might want to download and run these rootkit scanners as well…

F-Secure’s Blacklight…

http://www.f-secure.com/security_center/

(scroll down to “downloads.”)

Trend Micro Rootkit-Buster…

I would also recommend this regimen from Tech, another member of this forum. Go to the fourth post at this thread…

Hope this helps.

Best Regards…

If this is the case…

Here is a scanner from Microsoft that checks your system and determines whether you need the patch…

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=13ae421b-7bab-41a2-843b-fad838fe472e&displaylang=en

If you do, the patch is located here…

Hope this helps.

Best Regards…

Yes you do have the time for a scan and updates. Run the shutdown command or run taskmanager and disable the cullprit first or boot in safe mode with network options.

Yes, I understand that. But I wrote my response before you added the link and additional comments to yours. ::slight_smile:

But it’s alright, may God Bless you and yours just the same.
