Help, please! wpad.browserupdatecheck.in/wpad.dat issues...

I started getting this avast popup saying it was blocking wpad.browserupdatecheck.in/wpad.dat, URL: Mal, using the proces svchost.exe. So, I googled it. I saw that several others have been helped by malware experts here in these forums, so thought I’d give it a try.

Attached are the two log files from FRST. Any assistance on the matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

Start FRST and copy the following into the search box
Then press search registry

browserupdatecheck.in;wpad.browserupdatecheck.in

Once done a log will be generated, please attach that

Thanks for getting to me so quickly, Essexboy. Here’s the search.txt you requested.

Open notepad and copy the text in the quote box to it

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
“SearchList”=“”

[-HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1631748781-26377374-963847136-1000\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Wpad\60-fe-20-4a-a6-f9_7a-79-19-00-00-01]

Save the file to your desktop as wpad.reg
(set the file type to all files .)

Then right click and select merge
Reboot and let me know how it is

Well, been a few minutes since I rebooted, and so far no Avast popup about it, so I think we may have gotten it! Thanks!

If it pops up again, I’ll be sure to post about it. Again, thanks for the help Essexboy. offers cookies
