I keep trying to do a scan but it gets frozen when it gets to my Wanadoo file. I have tried to scan and leave this file out and it is OK and have tried to scan using just this file and again gets frozen. I also seem to have a problem with the Ryanair site because everytime I close it down I get a message from microsoft saying there is an error and it closes my computer down. It says its to do with a ‘kernel32.dll’! Any ideas please… thanks
What is the sensitivity of the scan (Quick, Standard or Thorough) ?
Do you also select archives to be scanned also ?
It could be that it isn’t frozen but taking a long time with a media file 1-2GB video file for instance.
What is the full text of the error ?
Check the windows Event Viewer, there may be a copy there.
What is your browser and what is the URL of the page you have a problem with ?
I have been doing the scan on Standard
Where would I find the windows Event Viewer! The site I have problems with is just going into the Ryanair site and then closing, doesn’t matter which page I am on.
When the scan appears to freeze, what folder and file is displayed in the Simple User Interface ?
It depends on your OS which you haven’t mentioned.
For me with XP Pro it is under Start > Administrative Tools, but you should be able to use Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer.
But surely it would be easier just to replicate the error and copy the error text.
That is why I asked for a URL because there are different ryanair sites the main .com site and I presume a French language version - http://www.ryanair.com/site/FR/?culture=FR, which I have no problem loading or closing using Firefox 3.0.4.
What browser are you using you didn’t answer that (?) if not firefox try that.
It freezes on Wanadoo.
Site URL is www.ryanair.com/site/EN
Message error reads
Faulting application iexplore.exe version 7.0.6000 16735, faulting module Kernel 32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5512 fault address 0x00012aeb
Have download Firefox!
Whilst the error message, mentions iexplore.exe (internet explorer) the true culprit is the faulting module kernel32.dll a windows system file. Now why this would just happen at ryanair and not at other sites is a bit of a mystery.
I have tried the URL you gave and no problems opening or closing with firefox 3.0.4.
Is there anything large (file size) in the wanadoo folder then ?
Just for information, I opened/closed both links given in IE7 without any problems.
Yes have found a 6,625 installation file in Wanadoo so that is obviously the problem.
Tried going to Ryanair through firefox and got an error message saying there is a problem try again or start again, if it continues consult the airline so!!! don’t know who’s fault it is them or mine.
Anyway thanks everybody for all your help.
Well 6625 files unless they are big or archive files, etc. shouldn’t present that much of a problem.
In firefox I believe there is a bug report function hidden somewhere if pages don’t display correctly, etc. but, for me with FF 3.0.4 there is no display issue. Do you have any weird or exotic add-ons installed for firefox ?
You can start firefox in safe mode (no add-ons) from the, Start, All Programs, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode), does it work from that ?
If so there could well be a problematic add-on causing the problem.
