As of today I can no longer access my bank online. Avast is blocking it and giving a malicious script alert. I checked with my bank and they have received numerous reports from Avast users and it it caused by an Avast update. I was also told that a fix was listed on the Avast website, however I am unable to find it. Can somebody please direct me to that fix?
Maybe this is what your bank advises you to do. Install the latest virus definitions manually. Right click on the yellow ball > update > engine and virus definitions.
Ok, it was Gate City Bank. Now if I understand you correctly, a manual update will cure the problem? What I’ve done so far is to exclude that bank url from script blocking and I can access fine. I can take it out, then update and see what happens. If it still doesn’t work I can put exclude the url again. Thank you. I’ll come back and let you know if a manual update worked or not.
Thank you for your help. Took out the url from the excluded script list. Then ran an update for Avast manually, and now I can access the bank web site once again and log in with no problem. Everything seems to be working now.
Sorry for the inconvenience :-[ , but FPs are bound to happen with av-solutions.
This time it was avast that had a hick-up.
They gave it some"update syrup" ;D, and now it is back to normal…
