help...registration# recover

i had to roll back to a recovery and Avast stopped working… I then reinstalled and asked for my reg# to me emailed to me… They sent it but NOTHING is in the attachment. Naturally they dont answer the published fone # so I am here asking for help…

1 screen says Avast is scanning but it isnt going anywhere.
2 half the email responses say my email doesnt have an account with Avast
3 the other half sends me an email and the attachment has NO reg# in it.
4 Fones never answer
5 YES… my license IS valid and payment has been made.
6 have email confirming my purchase 4 months ago with order #

How do i get Avast running again

I suggest an installation from scratch:

  1. Download the latest version of avast! Uninstall Utility and save it.
  2. Download the latest avast! version and save it.
  3. (Optional) If you want, save your avast! settings for later restoration (Settings > Maintenance > Back up).
  4. Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
  5. Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1 in Safe Mode. Boot after you’ve run it. Repeat this for any major avast! version you have ever installed/upgraded in your computer.
  6. Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.
  7. Register your free copy or add the license key for Pro. Or even upgrade your key from old versions.
  8. Check and post the results. If, for any reason, you did not solve, try doing the step 3 in Safe Mode anyway.

tech, thank you for your reply. I have done almost everything you said/recommended and i am at the point I need to enter the reg#. When I ask for it via email from Avast to be emailed it has an attachment, i click it, and it pops up saying → “Unable to insert the license file. The system cannot find the file specified”

Since they dont answer the fone how in the heck can i get the Reg#? Like i said i have my email confirmation of purchase/order#, SKU, and other info…
