I installed Avast and it is a great program. However, it keeps giving me the “Malicious URL Blocked” pop-up message at a very annoying rate. I googled how to stop this and ended up at the thread started by essexboy, the steps of which I am now following. Attached is my first log from AdwCleaner.
Monitoring
My log from Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
Once I have the OTL log we can proceed
Here is the OTL log and the Extras log that comes with it. Should I continue on to aswMBR?
If we need AswMBR we can run it later
After this run could you let me know if you are still getting the alerts
Warning This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems
Be advised that when the fix commences it will shut down all running processes and you may lose the desktop and icons, they will return on reboot
Run OTL
[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

Do you have an idea of what I need to do with the info you have so far?
Are you receiving the Avast alerts still ?
Yes I am
OK could you now run AswMBR please and also attach a screenshot of the Avast alert if posssible
When I try taking a screenshot it is too large to be attached or something. Below the avast logo the window is red with white writing. At the top it says “MALICIOUS URL BLOCKED”, and many of them will appear, causing a counter to generate in the upper left corner of the pop-up. Each one will have a different url (though sometimes I will recognize one that I’ve seen previously), and the process for them all is “C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe”. Here is the log from running aswMBR.
Upper right corner of the pop-up*
OK the svchost was a giveaway

[*]Ensure Cure is selected, then click Continue => Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.
[*]Get the report by selecting Reports
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/tdss%20report.JPG
[*]Note: If Cure is not available, please choose Skip instead, do not choose Delete unless instructed.
Please copy and paste its contents on your next reply.
I followed all of the instructions correctly, but it will not let me copy and paste from the report window.
I’ve run it multiple times to see if it was just a glitch, and it is physically not letting me. I cant right click the script and ctrl+v does not work either. There are the same 9 threats detected each time I run it, and I can only skip because I don’t have the cure option for any of them.
Could you go to C:\TDSSKiller and locate the log there it will have a date time attached to it
Here you go
OK MBR is good

[*]When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
[*]Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
Notes:
- Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
- Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
- If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.
Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now
