Well, just as the thread title states. I registered my key and some time later I realize that the on access protection has stopped working. I can’t access the virus chest either.
I have Avast 4.8.
The Avast tray icon had disappeared, but following advice I ran ashdisp.exe and got it to show up. But now it has a red mark on it and it’s giving me a RPC error.
Could anyone provide some insights on this issue?
well i would first recommend updating to new version Avast 5. http://www.avast.com/index
What was the previous AV, how was it removed?
RPC error is usually a result of AV remnants…

I’d rather not update just yet.
And regarding previous installations, no. This is the first AV installation I’ve done in this machine, and until a few days ago it was working alright.
Did you try what the link given by spg SCOTT suggested ???
