Help Request-How to remove Avast License from a dead PC

Hi,

Our old desktop using an Avast License has died. We cannot boot it up. I would like to re-use the License Key on a new laptop. How can I de-activate the license on my dead PC to allow it to be reused on our new laptop? This cannot be done on the old PC because it is totally dead - no power at all.

This license is valid until 2017 so I do not want to buy a new one yet.

Thank you.

If you can’t uninstall avast from the dead system no problem.

Use the Resend avast License https://www.avast.com/resend-license-paid.php, you will need to enter the email that you used when purchasing the license, e.g. the one that the original email with the link was sent.

I’m not entirely sure if this is required, but it shouldn’t hurt to remove it. Log in to your my.avast.com account and delete the old (dead PC) device, so it doesn’t count as being in use.

Hi,

This method doesn’t work. All it does is activates your subscription/ licence on the current machine and doesn’t deactivate the dead one. When you look at your subscriptions it will tell you that you need to extend your subscription to cover the extra machines

Maybe have a look here:

Not entirely surprising when you post in a topic that is over 4 years old.

Maybe look at this thread instead:
