Help! setifaceUpdataPackages() has failed

Hi,

Im trying out Avast, it seems lightweight and friendly, Im running Windows 98SE and have a dial up connection. I seem to have a lot of trouble updating:

The last successful update was 11/12/07, virus signatures were updated. I use Zone Alarm firewall. Considering it sucessfully update halfway between the above log, I assume it not to be interference from the firewall software.

I tried to do a search for the error code on the forums but unfortunately I keep getting a “Database Error” “Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator.”.

Please help me, Im lost to why this this is a persistant issue for me.

Have you tried a manual update, right click the avast ‘a’ icon, select Updating, iAVS, does that work or d you get the same error ?

If you still get the error, try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

Does ZA allow internet access ?

  • If it does delete the entry for it and do a manual update, this will force the firewall to ask permission again.

The infamous error 0x20000004…
What is it? ???

Any of the networking problems, for the correct diagnosis setup.log is needed.
