Help..... Smart Antivirus 2009

OK… I have been running Avast forever… Windows XP SP2… but somehow I have picked up Smart Antivirus 2009 (SA2009) .

I have delete all the files that I can see… and the registry files that I can see.

I have tried to find answers on the net… PCtools has scanned and found files… but wants money.
I have also scanned and found files with mbm… but they want money too.

I guess if I was going to give anyone money, I would rather avast… However avast doesn’t seem to to find any problems. ( I am running the lastest ver of avast with auto updates on alll the time)

Anyway… how do I get rid of this SA2009… what do I need to show you to make my nightmare go away
I keep getting popups everytime i try to open either internet explorer or desktop explorer.
It says in the popup box “Dangerous Error!” and wants me to download antispyware, Of course I won’t be doing that.

Help… thank you in advance

Try RogueRemover.

I have also scanned and found files with mbm
what mbm are you referring to?
there is a MalwareBytes Anti Malware FREE by the same people that make the Rogue Remove mentioned in the previous post
both are excellent starting points

With MBAM put a check mark next to bad stuff and then click
REMOVE CHECKED (not to worry a backup will be made

post the logs

You will need SDFIX downloaded on a non-infected system then installed and run on the infected computer:

Download JavaRa then run it and un-install all old versions of sun Java:
http://raproducts.org

Get the latest version of Sun Java:

Go to Secunia: Online Software Inspector and run it to detect other insecure aplications:

Yes I was reffering to MalwareBytes Anti Malware … I run it… but it just lists the infected objects unless I hand over money

SDFIX is free.

I didn’t know that MBAM had the limitation of not removing infections unless you purchased it.
Is this in the latest update?

Aussiesalute this doesn’t sound like Malwarebytes anti-malware please make sure that you have the real free version downloaded from here
http://www.malwarebytes.org/ download and install the latest version (1.28) check for updates and then do a complete system scan remove any objects found and post the log here please.

Well that’s news to me. I’ve seen it used as recently as this evening. The free version still does remove what it finds. The biggest difference is real time protection.

Where did you download it from? This is where you should have gotten it from. There are also some mirror site listed at the end.

I second Oldman’s post above.
