Hello all,
I ran a quick scan on my wife’s old Toshiba notebook and it turned up several threats.
Win32:BProtect-D [Trj] (C:_OTL\05122013_105646\c_progra~2\BrowserProtect\2.6.1125.80.…\BrowserProtect.exe)
Win32:BProtect-D [Trj] (C:_OTL\05122013_105646\c_progra~2\BrowserProtect\2.6.1125.80.…\BrowserProtect-20.0.dll)
JS:BProtect-C [Trj] (C:_OTL\05122013_105646\c_progra~2\BrowserProtect\2.6.1125.80.…\BrowserProtect.js)
Win32:BProtect-D [Trj] (C:_OTL\05122013_105646\c_progra~2\BrowserProtect\2.6.1125.80.…\uninstall.exe)
also,
Win32:Adware-BRT [Adw] (C:_OTL\05122013_105646\c_progra~2\WinCert\win32prop.dll)
From what I’ve read it sounds pretty serious. No idea how long it’s been on there, as I don’t use this computer much and only rarely do I use it to go online. I’m going to go ahead and change passwords, etc. just in case, though like I said, I don’t think I’ve used this computer to log into many websites or anything.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance!

Have this computer been cleaned before…using OTL diagnostic tool
All detections are in OTL quarantine

Run OTL program, when it opens click the black CleanUP button…this will remove tool and quaratine folder…you may need to reboot
Banned?

Gosh, that would have been the fastest ban ever. :o
Anyway, I had in fact run OTL on this machine before. I saw the letters ‘OTL’ in the filename but wasnt sure what it meant exactly.
So I did CleanUP with OTL and rebooted as instructed, and ran another quick scan. No threats detected. So false alarm, I guess…
Thanks for the quick reply, and please advise if there’s anything else you think I ought to do.

No .... Detection of previous removed malware in OTL quarantine folder
You may run a extra check with Malwarebytes … make sure it is updated
