I ???have a virus or something that has locked me out of my control panel and will not let me change any settings on my computer. I ran avast and it found 4 viruses or spy/adware that it deleted but I am still locked out. Also the virus has attached a windows security alert on my task panel that pops up every couple of minutes telling me to download a spyware remover from http://trustedantivirus.com
How can I get rid of this thing? Any suggestions would be appreciated!!
Thanks
Hi redrobin0677,
Try a boot time scan with avast! Right click the scanner screen, select ‘schedule a boot time scan’ and reboot when requested.
Try a scan with DrWeb CureIT!
Try the usual free adware/spyware scanners.
AVG Anti-Spyware Free (Requires Win2k/XP)
Ad-Aware Free
Spybot Search & Destroy
SUPERAntiSpyware Free
a-Squared Free
Download, install and update the programs. Disconnect from the internet (pull the plug) before running scans in Safe Mode if possible.
Always select the option to quarantine any malware found rather than delete it, then you will be able to restore files or registry entries wrongly identified as malware- a rare but not unknown event for any malware scanner.
I ran avast, spybot search and destroy and nortons antivirus - all found and deleted, repaired lots of spyware and adware and malware. But my problem persists! I cannot get this annoying crap off my computer - I can not open my control panel, i even tried to go to run:appwiz and it still will not come up. This thing is out of control, I get a pop up saying windows anitvirus - windows has detected spyware infection! it is recommend you use a special antispyware tool to prevent data loss, click here to protect your computer, then there is another pop up saying that unauthorized copies of my computer are being made and to click to get antispyware and the link goes to http://go.privacyprotector.com/Matzot=/6190/ax=1/ed=1/ex=1/000/
and when i go to the control panel or try to change any settings on my computer, even my desktop it says that I am unauthorized to make changes.
Whatever you do don’t accept this offer to protect your system it is scum ware, a rogue program trying to get you to install something which will either cost you money or further infect you.
Try this tool, RogueRemover, available here http://www.malwarebytes.org/rogueremover.php
