Help When I renew Free AVAST the next day it show expired

I am getting a little frustrated. Every day I get a POP UP that says AVAST has expired. When I go through the steps to renew Free it will not confirm unless (it appears) I upgrade.

The instructions found here say open AVAST
Settings
Subscriptions
Renew
Select Free

I do all of that and end up here see attached. There is no option to renew without upgrading (Maybe I am not seeing it)

Can anyone help?

There certainly is an option.
The message tells you that you’ve activated Avast.
Simply click on the X at the top right corner to close this offer to update to a paid version.
After that, open the User Interface and look at the following:
