My computer is on Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition with Service Pack 2 today when I turn on the system the system were slow on log in and also in my event viewer under the system there are some strange Event viewer entries with the error been Sidebyside and also I can’t launch IE 7 and Windows Defender also not working. And I do a thorough check with Avast! 4 Home edition and it can’t find anything wrong with it so Help is needed.
What would help are some of these strange entries ?
Copy and paste the text from the event viewer entries.
What errors are displayed at the time, other than the event viewer entries ?
What other security software do you have installed ?
I assume you think these problems might be due to some form of malware.
SidebySide Event ID 59 User N/A and when I try to display the properties of the event it can’t also do so also in my task manger the User tab it display nothing. And my CPU Usage is at 50% also I have Ad-aware 1.06 too. And I can’t access my computer within the share home network.
You obviously have other problems with your OS if you are unable to open the event entry (double click) or the properties. Do you mean the complete User Name column is blank in Task Manager or just for sidebyside PID 59 ?
A google search for sidebyside returns many hits (some relating to adware), http://www.google.com/search?q=SidebySide, this is just one of them, Adware SideBySide.
What process is responsible for the CPU usage and does it drop after a short time ?
Is the avast icon rotating ?
When I double click on every system event entries it would not display it properties and also in the Task Manager and Process tab the User Name column is blank.
Have you investigated the removal of sidebyside in the link adware sidebyside in my last post ?
I have no idea if that may have contributed to the problem, but in any case you want to remove it.
I would suggest a google search for “Task Manager User Name Column Blank” see http://www.google.com/search?num=50&q=Task+Manager+“User+Name”+Column+Blankthis is the first hit, http://www.winxptutor.com/tmuserblank.htm
