Help with Avast 4.7 Outlook Express Virus

when i send a message from Outlook Express (OE) Avast 4.7 tells me verbally -
“Caution - Potential Infection Detected” and writes to the screen “Partial Message Danger!” and then doesn’t let me send the message

People receiving my messages have complained about corrupt files and viruses.

My problem is that I can’t get this virus cleaned up and get OE functioning properly again.

Someone please help…i have tried to screen with other anti-virus software also with no luck.

I am open to any and all ideas.

I am running Windows XP Home and Avast 4.7 home and OE v6

Firstly are you sending the emails or is that being done without your knowledge or input ?

If you have another AV installed as well as avast that can actually compound the problem as they could conflict ?

If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it, preferably in safe mode.

  1. AVG anti-spyware (formerly Ewido). Or a-Squared free if using win98/ME. Or SUPERantispyware Or Spyware Terminator

These messages are from the Heuristic mail scanner. Before changing its settings, be sure you know which is sending the mail, like David asked.

Corrupt files? I don’t think so. avast is just scanning and blocking the email to be sent (at least the attached file). It is not changing the file or corrupting it.
Viruses? Well, maybe you’re trying to send infected files as avast is waning you…
