Help with cleaning malware?

Hi there. I’ve recently had some cmd prompts randomly displaying. It’ll be completely spontaneous, with them opening and closing within a split-second of each other.
I managed to use OBS to record the prompts as they come up, and two usually appear. It’s impossible to read one in the background, but one reads out:

"BITSADMIN version 3.0
BITS administration utility.
(C) Copyright 2000-2006 Microsoft Corp.

BITSAdmin is deprecated and is not guaranteed to be available in future versions of Windows.
Administrative tools for the BITS service are now provided by BITS PowerShell outlets.

Found 2 jobs named “task3"”

It seems to be quite similar to the following link: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=169680.0
I don’t want to reset my partition as I still believe there is hope for it yet. Any help?

I have the FRST64 logs available, and if required I’ll place them in a seperate post.

Note:
I have tried to use aswmbr, but whenever I try, I get a blue screen and a “PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA”. My suspicions are due to a failure for virtualisation.

Attach your basic diagnostic logs. (MBAM and FRST)
Instructions: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=194892

Sure thing. I hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long.
I can attach Addition if needed.

Addition.txt is also needed/wanted (as the instructions say)

Ah, sorry. Addition has been added to the attachments!

OK, now you’ve to wait a bit…

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

Hi there, sorry for the delay. I have the fixlog attached.
Thank you for your help so far!

Edit: I messed up with that. Attaching newer fixlog in a couple of minutes.
Edit2: New Fixlog.txt attached. The first time I tried running it with the fixlist meant that Farbar crashed while trying to delete a tmp file. Afterwards I ran it again and it took about a few seconds to complete the fix. I should add that both of these times were as admin.

How is the system running now? Are you still getting the BITS jobs starting at random times?

It’s hard to say… The system is running at its usual speed which is a relief - I’ve also been on this laptop for the past eight hours with no sign of BITSAdmin consoles popping up. In fact I’ve not had any cmd prompts at all.

Please monitor for a day or so and let me know (this could be a random malware ). Thanks.

Update: no signs of malware so far. Will make a final post in eight hours on whether there is any further malware activity.

Final update: no signs of cmd prompts or malware. I ran a scan with Malwarebytes and no threats have been detected anywhere. Thank you so much for your help!

If everything else if fine for you (Avast is running / scanning with no warnings, etc.) then I will remove our tools and get you on your way …

Clean up of Malware Removal Tools
Now that we are through using these tools, let’s clean them off your system so that should you ever need to have malware removed again (we hope not) fresh, updated copies will be downloaded.

[]Download Delfix from here to your desktop and double click it to start the program
[*]Ensure Remove disinfection tools is ticked
Also tick:

[*]Purge system restore

[*]Click Run
[*]The program will run for a few moments and then notepad will open with a log. Note: Please save this log first before rebooting your system (if asked to); DelFix does not save the log as it is trying to remove all traces of our work on your system. Please attach the log in your next reply.

You can delete any log files left on your desktop as these are no longer needed.

==Some Tools to consider to help keep your system safe ==

Unchecky is a small service that runs in the background to help keep those “extra toolbars” and tag along search engines from automatically installing. By automatically directing you to a custom install with all the options unchecked, only what you manually choose and confirm gets installed.

CryptoPrevent is a free program that prevents CryptoLocker / ransomware from infecting your PC by locking down the OS so the malware can not get a grip on your system. You can read the details about this program here.

Also, consider keeping MalwareBytes Antimalware in your arsenal of safe keeping programs. Use the free version (not the paid or trial version) and you won’t have a problem with your antivirus scanner program. Keep it updated and run a scan with it once a week.

Lastly, if you use Firefox as your main web browser, consider adding the NoScript and uBlock Origin add-ons to the browser to block scripting hijacks and remove unwanted ads from the pages you view.
