Help with Free ver. Update

Avast Free Antivirus / Premium Security

So this is the second time after a update that Avast Free has become unresponsive and I have had to uninstall and reinstall and then i noticed this any ideas on whats going on and how to fix it?

  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

using windows 10 pro 64 bit Version 1511 (OS build 10586.545)
only other Security software installed is zone alarm free and last anti-virus was avg but that has been uninstalled for probably close to 2 years now

First, uninstall ZoneAlarm…!!

Second, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AV(s)…!!

Then:

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
