help with latest version of avast home

Hi

I just loaded the latest version of avast home edition but it doesn’t start due to the error below. which i copied from the event viewer. I don’t know what this means can anyone help. I now have no virus scanner running and don’t want to change from avast

What veersion of Windows> Is it a legitmate copy?

Sounds like you may be missing a key windows file – have you tried a repair on the avast?

to repair… go to control panel -uninstall/remove programs - dlick on avast and select repair - then reboot computer
