Hey!

I have a problem and I don’t know what to do, The virus Scan shows the following problem:

C:Windows/System32/wininet.dll

and the severity is High

The Status is: Threat: Win32:Malware-gen

However I can’t Delete it cuz it says: Error: The specified file is read only (6009)
I can’t repair it cuz it says: Error: The system cannot find the specified (2)
I cant Move it to Chest cuz it says: Error: The specified file is read only (6009)
I can’t leave it on Do nothing cuz it also says: Error: The specified file is read only (6009)

What can I do? Please help me

if you reboot and scan again....is it still there?

Hello everyone !

First, sorry for my english.

I had exactly the same problem yesterday as rockefeller_550, avast detected “Win32: Malware-gen” in “wininet.dll” and directly put it in quarantine while I almost never go on the Internet from this computer! But I make a scan with windows defender and there is no problem. I think this is a false positive, I’ll wait a few days before restoring it from the quarantine. And I’ll wait for new avast updates as Pondus said.

Hey!

I followed the guide that Pondus suggested and I think it worked perfectly cuz now that I made the “Full Scan” it didn’t detect any virus and also with the 'Boot-time scan" it didn’t find any virus, so I think my laptop is ok at last, haha. Should I attach all the logs? Well thank you guys.
