On-line Virus Scanners and other useful Links Security-Ops.eu.tt Now you have more on-line scanners than you can shake a stick at ;D but god is subjective.
I would say don’t use Panda as it downloads unencrypted virus signatures and dumps them in your system folders. This causes alerts when you do an avast on-demand scan in the future and when you try to delete the ActiveScan folder it is saved into a restore point, where avast will also find it. A right royal pain in the rear just for an on-line scan.
Hi guys!
Thanks for your answers!
Could you please answer me another query? Yesterday, I spent several hours browsing the net, trying to find a website where I could make an online checking and I found one called “infectedornot.com” or something, which apparently is owned by Panda, do you know it? Is it reliable?
Thanks in advance for your help!
I have never heard of it and I would tend to stick to the more established ones previously mentioned. As to it being owned by panda, I would be concerned that it might well do the same as panda’s active scan and not encrypt signatures.
There is a lot of hits for infectedornot.com on a google search, most seem PR though the scan would appear to be much shorter than the full panda active scan on-line scanner so I’m somewhat confused as to why they would choose to do this. Though it is currently in beta (if you trust beta) it also redirects to another site for the scans, perhaps this is trialling a replacement for panda active scan.
The ‘I only have a minute’ Nanoscan duration is considerably greater than 1 minute, 10 minutes later and I’m still not even ready to start my ‘I only have a minute’ nanoscan. Having gone through the hoops of accepting activeX plugin which is supposedly loading, though I see no activity. I have now assumed it failed so I’m not hanging about to check this beta further, endex.
It currently doesn’t work with Firefox as it requires activeX as a work around you can use the IE Tab extension for firefox.
I never heard about it too.
But, why do you want to test it if there are reliable and (most probably) better on-line scanner available?
