I am brand new at downloading an antivirus off of the internet and I have an issue. I installed the Free Avast home edition 4 antivirus and I can access everything except my yahoo account. I have windows XP. Please help
What is your firewall ?
How do you connect to Yahoo, is it log-on in a normal http page and then it is validated on an https (secure) page and then display your account ?
Is there any other antivirus installed in your computer?
Do you have any in the past?
I so not have any other antiviruses on my computer. I used to have Nortons but it screwed my whole system up so I had to recover everything.
When my screen opens, AOL comes up first and then I go in and type in Yahoo.com from the AOL start page.
- Remove NAV through Add/Remove programs from Control Panel. Boot.
- Use Norton Removal Tool for Windows 2000/XP/Vista.
- Boot.
- Install avast! Boot.
- See what you get.

I had to recover my whole system about 2 months ago so that is when I took all of the Nortons stuff out of the system. I did do all of the steps that you advised me of and I still can’t get on my yahoo account. Please advise
Run step 2 again and boot.
Ok I ran it again and I still cannot connect to Yahoo. This same thing happened abuot 2 months ago, I did a sweep for viruses and had one. I put it in the virus chest and everything worked fine. I tried to run a sweep again and it won’t even let me do that. ???
