I have a new laptop loaded with Vista.
Each time the insaller gets to about half way the download is stoped and the installer say “Connection Terminated Retrying”.
When the issue happened the first time I got a new installer to no avail.
Please advise.
Thanking you ahead in this matter.

Hello iddawg717,

get the full installer file from the avast website.

get the required language.

do not get the universal installer.

I keep the full installer on a USB Flash Drive along with MalwareBytes’ Anti-Malware (MBAM) and WinPatrol installers for use whenever I need to work on a system.

I even have a WinPatrol USB Flash Wristband:

It should be fine if you download from the avast website, just like mmb said. But in case it could not work out (maybe due to they were moving to a new office), just download from your trusted download site which have the full installer, I used to download at www.filehippo.com or www.download.com.

And keep the full installer somewhere safe  (just like YoKenny said)

p.s: there should be no problem with Vista, I found the latest full version works great on Vista.

Hey… the servers aren’t in the building… moving office has nothing to do with download availability

Oh…, cause I never know whether avast own a company server or not. Thats explain, I found no problem downloading from the website (I wanna try the Pro for 4.8 before buy it).

Well, just like on the website said:

Our system for delivering virus updates is located elsewhere and is not impacted by the move

I think I have read it to fast, so miss some important words

I have always gotten all my installers from download.com. I have opened a new tap and I’m going to the Avast.com to get the installer from there to see if I have better luck.
As the old saying goes here goes nothing. I will let you know how I make out.
Thanks for all the help.

Nothing much wrong with Download.com, but I’ve long since found it better to get software direct from the manufacturer’s website.
The picture shows which download you should get. The universal installer is what used to be called “stub” installer, by some, a part download. The area highlighted in red is the full installer file.

I downloaded and installed from the Avast site.
I had to buy a new computer and it is loaded with Vista. It is a pain in the &*$ to run. Never had this much trouble. Right now I am sorry I did.
Thanks for all your help.
The only thing is now I am afraid to reply to any e-mails. The boot scan said i did not have any infections but when the computer started it went through 3 blue screen errors before it booted completely.
I will install Malwarebytes and do a scan with it just to make sure.
I’ll get back to you and let you know what it finds if any thing.

You may reply email from the your trusted friends I think okay, if you worry, just send an email with new subject rather than reply, so you know where the email heading.

Use some security setting like SSL/TLS or STARTLS if you use email client like Outlook or Thunderbird.

Do not worry, my Vista always gets blue screen one or a couple times in a month before it booted completely, I do not know why. Maybe I push it to hard to work

What else have you installed, before the running of the boot time scan?

Also, most new pc’s ome with a pre-installed Antivirus, was the one on this?

If your laptop is Dell it probably came with Norton. The same thing happened to my sister’s Dell laptop and it was caused by remnants of Norton.

My dell came with McAfee…
We have to wait for iddawg717 to respond before suggesting things…

Finally got Avast installed today.
The lap top came with a thirty day subscription of Norton.
I ran Norton with XP on the old laptap and was not impressed.
It let more in than it kept out and support at that time was non to nill. So to speek.
Glad I found Avast.

Download Norton Removal Tool 2010.0.0.98
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Norton-Removal-Tool.shtml <== the Symatec site is busy.
Probably users downloading the un-install tool ;D

I’m glad I found avast! as well.

Wow, an antivirus site busy to download the uninstall ;D

Yes, I am glad too, for almost 5 years using avast
