One day the world really will end of course (and this guy will be insufferably smug - in the judgment queue) ;D.
I rather doubt he will live long enough to have a smug grin on his mug.
The Mayan calendar deal is a myth. It doesn’t say that the world will end on that date. It simply shows that a celestial cycle will end on that date and then start over again. Why do you think the tablet containing it is circular like the face of a clock?
The only mystery is how were they able to track and predict the progress of the cycle with such astonishing accuracy without any astronomical instruments.
The world will someday “end” (not completely but made over as described in the Bible)but the Bible also says that no man will know the date and time so anyone who says he does is simply a false prophet.

these end of days campaigners should be taken to the looney bin.
I believe today is 10/21/2011 and I guess his idiotic prediction can be added to those of the others who predict doom and gloom and thankfully never get it right.
Why not leave these predictions to GOD, the only one who actually knows when these things will actually happen.
(There are many names for GOD I guess it depends on your own belief what you call him or it.)
Until that day happens and it eventually will for each of us at his choosing, enjoy life and do something useful with your life.
