Here's something for DavidR....

I wouldn’t have it even for free I’m no fan of suites, no matter who by and I already have a few Outpost Firewall Pro ‘lifetime’ licenses for Outpost Firewall Pro.

This would be a year license, used as a hook. There is already an offer at the Agnitum website (and a topic in this forum) were they will swap any other companies Internet Suite product for theirs. To me that smacks of desperation, hell they already have a free Suite so why they aren’t converting those is anyone’s guess.

They must be getting desperate.
1st they offer it for free in exchange for your current AV and now
they are giving it away.

It’s not an easy market…
There are quite some free antivirus and free firewalls. Also free suites.

Yes, but it all seems pointless when they also have a free suite option, really weird.

I’m not a fan of suites either but I do like AIS, but it’s im shield is weak.

I disabled the avast! firewall so I could use ZA to guard against being infected from an im.

I mentioned it in a couple of threads, but no one from the avast team hasn’t noticed or doesn’t care.

The avast antispam leaves a lot to be desired, too. I use Mail washer for antispam.

IM Shield? Why do you think it is weak? ???

The problem is not IM.
It could be detected IF:
It has a stronger IM configuration and IF the malware is on avast virus database.
Otherwise, it’s a matter of detection and other shields won’t catch it.

From what I’ve seen, any file sent to me by im, ZA Free asks accept or deny?

I haven’t got many files sent to me, I don’t do much iming.

And why does just asking increase the detection? It is just a Hips and not an antimalware behavior.

And why does just asking increase the detection?

I can control what comes in to my computer from IM’s.
