OK . . it may not be relevant but I had to replace my motherboard a few weeks ago. Since then I have crashed and have reformatted the HD several times.

Each time I crash (sometimes every 30 seconds) the error report blames mshtml.dll at various registry locations. Often C0000096.

I have an asus mother board, aol 9, 2Mgb internet on broadband. 1300 Htz processor and 526 Mb of RAM.

Windows XP with SP2 and all current updates. I have McAfee firewall and AVG antivirus. I am using IE 6

Any suggestions?

Ian

Well, this is avast forum and not AVG or McAfee…
Did you try to get help there?

In fact, it’s not easy to see what’s going wrong but the motherboard replacement brought incompatibilities…

Oooooo Kkk

I have McAfee firewall and AVG antivirus. I am using IE 6

Just for information, this is a support forum for avast! Antivirus users, do you happen to be using that as well?

Having more than one resident Av on your system is not recommended as there is potential for conflict which could lock-up your system. Not that I think that this is the problem.

Have you tried a google search for the error numbers you gave or mshtml.dll, which is probably a part of IE for viewing .html files. Try a repair (re-install) of IE or ensure it is fully up to date.
