Amongst others the most important differences beetwen options are:
1.On demand scan is practicly the same, except the Pro version has a little more specific tweaking (example: you can set each archives to be scanned separately, against in Home where you can set either all archives at once or none)
2.Resident scan in home doesn’t have the option to scan extra packers (except the default executable packers). That is not so important because once the file is extracted from the archive it will be detected.
3.Resident Task has a Script Blocking module (important for browser support)
4.Pro version has the possibility of setting the multiple response when virus is detected. Home version is default configured to ask the user what to do when the virus is detected.
Cheers
Some of our contributors might wish that you had mentioned the option to schedule avast! scans in the Pro version … it does seem to be a frequent question.
No. Updates are incremental and fully automatic for both Pro and Home version.
There are even more update features in the Pro (scheduled updates, iPush: an update started by the own antivirus when there is an attack in Internet, etc.).
Well, if we are going in details than I will add that the Pro version has integrated avast! Virus Cleaner is a tool that will remove selected viruses from your computer.
avast! Virus Cleaner is a tool to completely disinfect your system. It repairs the infected files (whenever it is possible) and deletes the virus bodies, so that it is not necessary to reinstall your system or recover it from backups.
Pro version also possess the ability to tweak and set the report file for every type of scan separately.
The Home version has integrated avast! Virus Cleaner too
They work by intercepting the access of browsers, mail clients, Usenet news readers, IM clients ... you name it.Of course.
I was just trying to interpret what raymondjcox1 was trying to say:
Hi i am wondering why fire fox & mozillar products are not protected against viruses from avast?
That's why I smile when I see questions like ... is Thunderbird supported, is Eudora supported, is Opera supported, is Netscape?:) Well, although my area of expertise is Theoretical Physics I try to keep up with the software branche. Especially because I'm codirector of newly founded company for software development. Although not a programer I strive to keep up with the business. :)
As long as the large part of the population believe in the magic ... all is well.Freddie Mercury was probably wright "It's a kind of magic". :)
Sorry, wrong thread.
If avast! detects a virus that is possible to remove using the avast! Virus Cleaner, it will show a special button to start the tool. The button (labeled “Completely remove the virus from the system”) will be placed directly in the virus warning window - right above the buttons to delete, rename or move the infected file. When the option to start the avast! Virus Cleaner is available, it is recommended you use it!
My mistake
