Hi, please help! Threat: INI: Downloader-A [Trj] found on my computer.

Hi, I’m new here, my name is Aimee. I’ve been a big fan of avast for some time already, been using it for a good 5 to 6 years or so. It’s a big life savior :). This has never happened to me before but it happened today, i caught a virus on my computer, i didn’t even know, my computer wasn’t even acting too strange, but avast would usually block it for me or notify me, but there was nothing this time. My virus definitions and the program are update to the current. My computer desktop is a Dell, windows XP, it’s really old like around 6 or 7 years old, it runs on a intel(R) pentium (R). I’m am not computer savvy at all, so i don’t really know anything, but I’ll provide as much information as i can. I haven’t used my desktop for about a good year and a half already, to clarify that, i haven’t used it to access or connect to the internet for a good year and a half, i used it occasionally to print my homework’s or documents since it’s connected to my printer. I still used it, to in a way store some files or pictures, i used it for very basic things, like to view my documents and files that were originally on it. The reason being is i replaced my desktop use with my laptop, so i pretty much was just using my laptop for internet access and things like that. This past May 2012, i decided to go back to using my desktop, because i was afraid that it wouldn’t work if i stopped using it completely. Previously, while i was using my laptop, from time to time, i would turn my desktop on and use it to print things out or just browse through my older files from the desktop, i just never connected it to internet access. So back to May 2012, i connected my desktop back to the internet, i updated my avast, and updated some other programs that were required such that of the windows update itself. Everything seemed okay and working well. Until after the updates were finished. I noticed, that everything ran much slower, like when i try to open my documents folder, or any other folders or programs, it would take a while, about 5 to 6 minutes sometimes. Plus, i noticed that when i tried to open my instant messenger programs like aim or msn, it wouldn’t open, but it does show up on my task manager; especially when i try to open iTunes, it wouldn’t open at all but would still show up on task manager. I only use Mozilla Firefox as my internet browser, so of course, i had it updated to the latest version. However, i also noticed that when i click on the Firefox icon on my desktop, it would take about 1 to 2 minutes to open up. Also, when I’m on the internet, when i check my email or just browsing the internet, it would take a good 2 to 3 mins to load the page, sometimes even slower. Plus, i keep getting this message all the time when my page would stop loading or freezes on me,

Warning: Unresponsive Script: A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete ,i would click continue, but it would just freeze up and i would have to go to task manager and manually end Firefox, so therefore, when that message comes up i would just click stop script. I never had that problem before, even on my laptop it ran smoothly, i had my internet modem, and provider, checked, and my connect had no problem. I’m sorry for getting off topic, but i just wanted to make sure i include everything that might be helpful. So ever since everything seemed to run slow for me, i had the habit of scanning my computer weekly, sometimes maybe even 2 to 3 times a week, i also ran spybot too. I always ran full system scans and occasionally ran boot-time scan, i would either get no virus found or some files could not be scanned. Now, yesterday July 26th 2012, while i was using Firefox browser, to check my email and some browsing online, i noticed that there were a lot of pausing when my pages were loading, i also noticed that i couldn’t open up more than one windows web page at a time, if i did it would freeze, it was the same case with opening up more than one tab. So, i quickly turned off my internet connection and ran a full system scan that was in the evening around 7:16pm, the result: virus found, it was the following:

( C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\o9da5a9j.ini ) ( severity- HIGH) (Status- Threat : INI: Downloader-A [Trj] )

so what i did after that was i was asked to pick an option and i chose delete, and it said action successful.
I was still a bit shaken up from it, so to be safe rather than sorry i ran a boot- time scan at 10:55pm, the result : virus found and this time it was different, it said the following:

( C:\System Volume Information.…\ A0208227.ini ) (severity- HIGH) (Status- Threat : INI: Downloader-A [Trj] )

i really am not sure if that is the same virus or not, but i was scared because i thought it was deleted but it seems like it was still in my system, so once again i pick to delete and it said action successful. I was still a bit skeptical about it, so i ran another boot time scan this morning July 27th, at 12:02AM, and the result was no virus found. Also, the two times that i ran the boot-time scan after my virus was found, there was also this, CAB Archive is corrupted Error 42127. I was scared that maybe it was just hiding or something so i ran a full system scan at 1:11AM, and once again i got a no virus found. I really don’t know if it’s still around or not, I’m scared, because I’m not sure what this virus does, especially since the severity is High. I was actually online paying bills and on my online banking yesterday, so I’m really afraid that my bank info might have been taken or something, since i don’t know when the virus got into my system yesterday. I’m sorry that this is so long, but thank you so much for your time, please help me. Thank you again!! Also, i have a habit of updating my virus definition once I’m connected to the internet, i don’t open anything, i go straight to updating manually, i do have it set on automatic but it’s just a habit. I noticed that when i update it, it updates very very slowly, it takes a long time, like around 5 to 10 minutes to finish updating, whereas, I’ve tried it on my brother’s desktop and we share the same modem, his updates in like a few secs. Also, when my virus definition gets updated, i would get a little green pop-up announcing that it has been updated, i usually get one, but it appears twice and it’s one after the other, plus the announcers voice says it twice too. Is this a virus as well? Sorry to bother you so much. Thank you so much again!!
