Hidden File Rootkit on Windows 8 - Are these false positives?

I’ve recently upgraded to Windows 8 and haven’t had any problems with viruses, rootkits etc. in ages

After doing a scan I discovered these but was wondering if they were false positives, I thought they might be something to do with the windows updates i’ve done recently.

Welcome to the forum. :)From where did you get your Windows 8 copy and which version is it ???
Knowing the full path name of where the infected files where located would also help.

Looks like windows side by side again (sxs)

Thanks for the reply, I upgraded via Microsofts upgrade tool and I am running Windows 8 Pro.

One thing i’ve noticed is since performing an update on Avast today after scanning the folder the files were located in once again they are no longer detected, so i’m thinking it may mean they were false positives.

I couldn’t work out how to copy and paste the directory so I did another screenshot showing the full location of the first entry:

I have noticed this a few times that Avast will detect windows updates whilst they are being moved around the system. Then when it quietens down all is well again

Ah I see, hopefully nothing to worry about then

Thanks
